About Us

Voix de Vivre was founded in 2003 and has firmly established itself as a leading Hertfordshire chamber choir.

Voix de Vivre is privileged to have international opera singer Jeremy White as its Honorary President.

We are based in St Albans, but our accomplished singers come together from a wide area to sing under the direction of our eminent founder and conductor, Neil MacKenzie. Neil’s wide experience as a choir trainer and his inspirational direction are key to Voix de Vivre’s success. 

The choir’s repertoire is ever-expanding and varied, ranging from early music to contemporary, from Dunstable and Pygott to Scarlatti and Charpentier, Frank Martin, Schönberg, James MacMillan and Jonathan Dove. Unaccompanied contemporary choral music is at the core of our programming.

We have collaborated successfully with a number of fine pianists including Stephen Betteridge, Andrew Leach and Andrew Blankfield, and with orchestras including the Bissolotti Players in Fauré’s Requiem and the Lawes Baroque Players in Handel’s oratorio Israel in Egypt.

In recent years we have held a series of successful joint concerts with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, and have joined forces with other choirs including Wolfson College, Cambridge.

In July 2019 Voix de Vivre had the honour of being invited to participate in the International Kodály Music Festival in Kecskemét, Hungary, where we presented a programme of British choral music. Read more →
